Baby Steps

We may or may not have eaten chili dogs for lunch and pizza for dinner yesterday. :P Today we're back on track though!

Started out the morning with some amazing Banana & Pecan Pancakes:
(I found that chopping the banana's and adding them to the mix was much easier than what they suggested.)
(I don't make pretty pancakes)

Everybody ate way to many of these, they were so good. At first, I wasn't going to put these on here, because I thought for them to really be "healthy" I should have used whole wheat flour and thrown some flax in or whatever. The only change I actually did was to use applesauce in place of butter. But you know, that IS a change, and definitely a healthy one. While it may not be a big one, I think taking baby steps is the key to actually making this work. When you look at everything that could be changed at once, it is really easy to get overwhelmed and never start.

Tonight, we went with my classic "mommy doesn't want to cook" dinner of frozen ravioli.

Usually I just toss in a jar of Ragu and call it a night, but tonight I heated up some frozen spinach and blended it in with the sauce. (I started out conservatively and only added about 1/4 of the pack of spinach to a half a jar of sauce.) Allie was not happy about the color, but the taste didn't change enough to bother her. Everything bothers her, so that's saying something!

This one makes me pretty happy, because it is so incredibly simple, and I think the more that they get used to the color/texture/taste change, the more spinach you can add in.
