Veggie Burger Virgin

I am semi-serious about the whole vegetarian thing, but realistically, I know that the motivation you get from a Netflix documentary is fleeting. Anyways, I decided that if there was even the slightest chance of making it happen, I'd have to find a way around living a life without cheeseburgers.

So here enters the Veggie Burger. I have never had one, never wanted one. I microwaved these bad boys up and served them to my husband and son first because I'm a wimp (Allie won't eat burgers). I didn't tell them what it was, but they knew something was up since I kept watching them and asking them how it was. I'm smooth like that.

(just in case you're like me, and have no idea what a veggie burger looks like on the inside)

Verdict: They both loved them. I think once you have all the condiments, pickles, onions, ect. you really don't notice a difference. I shop at a teeny tiny commissary and there was only one brand and two types (although I have no clue how typical the selection normally is), mine were four for $3.15 which is pretty close to what you pay for pre-made burger patties. I loved that they microwave for three minutes and your done.

The only problem I have is that the ingredient list was about a mile long. (You kind of have to expect that since the whole idea is a little weird.) I'd have to compare, but I would guess they're not a whole lot better than a really lean ground beef burger would be...but that's totally a guess.

BUT I am happy to know this is out there, and there can be "cheeseburgers" without meat.

  1. My boyfriend is a vegetarian and I absolutely love veggie burgers! They do have a long list of ingredients but they typically will have less fat and no cholesterol.
